Let's go through the poetry first:-

Jab aas paas na rahun tumhare,

Jab nuks koi na nikaalun tumhare,

Zara puchhna khud se mere baare mein.

Jab akele na bhi ho bina mere,

Jab yaad bhi na ho aankho mein tere,

Zara puchhna khud se mere baare mein.

Jab lage ki khush ho aise bhi,

Jab lage mujhse chidhte ho vaise bhi,

Zara puchhna khud se mere baare mein.

Jab lage ki ab jaa kar sukun mila,

Jab lage mere saath bas khoon jala,

Zara puchhna, khudse mere baare mein.

Puchhna ki mera kasoor kya hai,

Puchhna ki ye jo fitoor sa hai,

Ye kya hai? 

Meri galti hai koi ya ab main hi galat lagti hun? 

Tumhe pareshani hai koi, ya tumhari pareshani hi main lagti hun?

Kyu aisa rishta hamaara badalne laga hai?

Kyu jo hasta tha mann ab machalne laga hai?

Kya wajah hai ki roz taraazu alag hota hai?

Kyu ye roz inaam mera alag hota hai?

Kuchh toh sochte hoge mere mann ko tatolte waqt? 

Kuchh toh dekhte hoge mere jazbaat se khelte waqt?

Mujhe acha lagega ya bura kya tumhe pata nahi chalta?

Konsa rawaiyya hai tumne chuna kya tumhe pata nahi chalta?

Ek main hun jo roz tumhari berukhi ki wajah sochti hun,

Aur tum ho jisey mere ahsaas ka pata bhi nahi chalta.

Zara puchna khudse mere baare mein,

Dekhna ki kya zameer tumhara kuchh kehta nahi?

Puchhna ki kya main isi layak hun,

Dekhna ki kya pyaar tumhara kuchh kehta nahi?

Zara puchhna ki kya meri koi ahemiyat nahi?

Kya tumne jaisa socha hai usse badhkar meri shaksiyat nahi?

Kya zaroorat mein tumhare saath nahi thi main? 

Tum roye jis raat, kya uss raat nahi thi main?

Kya haalaat ke bharose hi kabhi tumhe rehne diya tha?

Kya waqt ki chot ko tumhe akele hi sehne diya tha?

Raaston mein pyaar ke, 

Ye rukawat kaisi?

Bhaagte jaa rhe ho jisse vo thakawat kaisi?

Ahsaason mein mere ye milawat kaisi?

Pyaar karte ho toh pyaar mein ye giraawat kaisi?

Kuchh samajh nahi aata ab toh, 

Jaane kya jataate ho ishaare mein.

Samjh rahe ho agar meri bhi taklif, 

Toh zara puchhna khud se mere baare mein.

Central idea:-

     'Teri berukhi' ,  your rudeness this is basically the idea of this poem. After sometime passes in a relationship, it is a tragedy that often the partners start growing distant to each other emotionally. Concerns and discomforts of the significant other are side lined or ignored. And as a result, feelings are bottled up inside when remain unheard continuously.

     In such a situation, a range of thoughts come into the mind of the one who faces this ignorance. The rudeness that people face, makes them think, if they are at all important for their better half or not. In this poem, the poet requests the partner to ask his own heart, about her importance whenever she is not around to bother him.

She also asks him to think and answer honestly if she had never been a supportive and caring partner for him. She brings out those moments when she had been hurt by his words, asking him to think when she is not there to disturb him as he often complains, and when he thinks he is at peace without her, to ask himself about her. 

    On one hand there is no idea that she has of the reason for his rudeness towards her. Thus leaving her confused and often wondering. On the other hand he has no idea he has of the feelings and sorrows of his partner. She questions him again and again and asks why has the relationship become so much different than what it had been. She asks if he loves her than why is there a depreciation in the affection that he shows to her.
